There is saying that you can out-train a bad diet, and that is certainly true. But even with a good diet, if you want to be healthy it is really important that you get some regularly exercise.
I will be adding lots more into the this section, but in the meantime, this is what I have settled on to help me build up my fitness. For yourself, the main thing is to keep moving, and find something you enjoy, or can at least see yourself keeping on doing without needing to grimace!
Watch this space as I add in more research into the importance of exercise, and ways you can help make moving more a habit and not a chore.
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
This was a big change for me, I never really did high intensity exercise. The main aim of HIIT is to have a short (10-15 minute) burst of exercise, which is itself is split into smaller sections where you train hard, then rest.
- Do I love it? No
- Can I feel the benefit? Yes
- Can it be a part of my regular routine without being a drag? Yes!
Regular daily walking
This is my low impact way of keeping active. I love to walk so it suits me well. Where possible I prefer to trek and wild camp, but for day to day life I have a local park. It is also a low impact way of me getting about, and something that fits in well with my lifestyle. You may prefer to run, cycle, play a sport – doesn’t matter too much.
