Grind your coffee beans. This should be on the coarsest setting that your grinder has. Tip the coffee beans into one of the jugs.
100 g coffee beans
Add extra spices as desired (this is an optional step). Once you are happy with making the basic cold brew coffee, you can experiment by adding different spices such as cinnamon. My only caution would be to do add minimal amounts when first experimenting, as otherwise the the other spices may overpower the coffee.
1 tsp other spices to flavour
Add 1 litre / 2 pints of water into the jug. Stir the coffee granules and water together.
Leave for about 24 hours at room temperature. This is where the coffee will steep
Using the filter dripper cone and filter paper, filter the coffee into the other jug that you have ready.
The coffee mixture can be stored in the fridge for 7-10 days before starting to lose its taste.
And finally drink! One thing to note is that the coffee will be quite strong so you will want to dilute it with water. This comes down to taste, I tend to dilute 1 part coffee to 3 or 4 parts water.
Given I am going for the healthiest option, I drink my coffee black, but you can of course add other dairy or non-dairy products as part of a balanced diet.
